Hill Country State Natural Park

Hill Country State Natural Area preserves 5,369 acres of rugged, relatively pristine Hill Country terrain in Bandera County, Texas. It was opened to the public in 1984.

Hill Country State Natural Area

Explore over 5,000 acres of rugged canyons, scenic plateaus and tranquil creek bottoms at this former ranch northwest of San Antonio. Escape from the bustle of modern life to a more relaxed time and place. Hill Country State Natural Area offers primitive camping, backpacking, na­ture-watching and multiuse trails for hikers, mountain bikers and horse­back riders. Reserve our lodge for your group.

Lost Maples State Natural Area

You may know Lost Maples for its fall color, but it is spectacular year-round. Visit any time to see abundant wild­flowers, steep canyon walls and the scenic Sabinal River. Lost Maples protects a special stand of Uvalde bigtooth maples. Many folks come here to see colorful leaves on these and other trees in autumn. The show varies, depending on weather conditions. 

Mac & Ernie's Roadside Eatery

Featured on The Travel Chanel and The Food Network! Lunch includes hamburgers, cheeseburgers, and famous Cabrito Burger. Dinners includes steaks, catfish, ancho chile honey basted quail and daily specials. Beer and wine, as well as soda, tea and coffee.
